Computer resources

The Office of IT Services (DSIT) is an administrative unit of the university, in charge of providing to faculty, staff and students the computational resources needed to perform their academic and administrative activities.

The resources administered by the DSIT are:


   Computer labs: These are public access labs, with 559 desktop computers. There are as well two labs for team work, with 116 desktop computers, class rooms with 287 desktop computers and seven buildings serviced by Movil Express, with an average of 100 computers. A variety of specialized software packages are installed in these computers. Faculty and students can use them to work on computational models of the concepts discussed in class.

    Networks: A campus-wide network with 1 GB bandwidth. Secure networks, data centers, databases and application servers.

    Wireless network: 100% Wi-Fi coverage across the campus, libraries, labs, and outdoor areas.

     Email: Email accounts with 25 GB storage capacity, capable of synchronization between multiple devices.

 Other DSIT services

    Multimedia: Video production and edition, event recording and videoconferencing.

    Points of attention to students: These are spaces found across campus, where students    can receive support and information on the services offered by the       DSIT.

    At the computer labs: Laptop rentals, lending of headphones, USB memories, webcams, and printing services.

    Help desk: The 3333 is a campus wide help desk phone line for the resolution of computer issues.

High performance computing center of the School of Sciences

The School of Sciences has made an important investment to put in service a High Performance Computing Center. This facility is available to the school of sciences’ faculty and students whose computational needs require the use computers with high processing speed and high volume storage capabilities.
